The 4 Garrison Officers’ Mess Keep Fit Club, in Kumasi donated a package of food, PPE and other critical supplies worth GHS50,000 to Kumasi Central Prisons, Cherubs Children’s Home at Santasi-Apire and the Ashanti Regional Health Directorate. Club members saw the need the for benevolent individuals and organizations to support government efforts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus in Ghana. The gift package included the following:

  • 100 gallons of hand sanitizers
  • 15,000 hand gloves
  • 1,500 nose masks
  • 30 Veronica Buckets
  • 20 bundles of tissue paper
  • 10 boxes of Parazone bleach
  • 20 gallons of liquid soap
  • 40 bags of rice
  • 2 maxi bags of Gari
  • 10 gallons of cooking oil
  • 100 crates of eggs
  • 400 bags of sachet water
  • 42 boxes of Vitamin-C tablets.

Chairman of the 4 Garrison Officers’ Mess Keep Fit Club Mr. Akwasi Badu explained that members of the Club were concerned about the spread of the virus in Ghana and around the world. He noted that members also observed and appreciated efforts by government in the fight against the virus and thought it important to support to government win the fight.

Ashanti Regional Minister Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah received the gift package and expressed his appreciation for the kindness of the club and its members in supporting government in very trying times.

Ashanti Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service(GHS) Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang challenged the media to prioritize public education on matters related to the pandemic and help create public awareness about modes of transmission of the virus and protective measures the public could take to prevent infection.

Spokesperson of the 4 Garrison Keep Fit Club Dr. Boris Baidoo advised the public to take keen interest in regular physical exercises and eat balanced diets to help boost their immune system.
