ABL donated maize, soya beans, beans, millet, rice, wheat, vegetable oil, sugar, diapers, wipes, powdered milk and beverages to the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre of Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital.
Legal and Corporate Affairs Director of ABL Ms. Adwoa Arthur met earlier with Dr. Maame Yaa Nyarko, Medical Director of Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital to determine the hospital’s needs. Dr. Nyarko identified the need for food to for malnourished patients at the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre and also meals for out-patients.
Ms. Arthur explained that the donation to the Nutrition Rehabilitation Center of Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital supports efforts to attain SDG 2 on the eradication of hunger. Ms. Arthur explained that an estimated 821 million people globally were undernourished in 2017. She noted that in sub-Saharan Africa alone, the number of undernourished people increased from 195 million in 2014 to 237 million in 2017.
