Alhaji Yakubu-Tali explained that the support was part of ADB’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy to support disadvantaged communities across Ghana.

“We are here today to make a cash donation of GH¢50,000.00 as our contribution towards the smooth running of the newly established hospital,” he said.

Alhaji Yakubu-Tali recalled ADB distributed several personal protective equipments to institutions across Ghana country to help fight COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, and that Tolon District Hospital was part of the beneficiaries.

Deputy Northern Regional Director of Health Services Dr. Baba Abukari Braimah, speaking on behalf of the Northern Regional Health Directorate, commended ADB for the gesture. Dr. Braimah observed that notwithstanding its limited resources, Tolon District Hospital had provided healthcare services to about 250 people in less than two weeks of operations, including 20 infant deliveries.

District Health Director of Tolon, Ms. Joana Quarcoo expressed gratitude to ADB Bank for what she described as timely support because the hospital still needed funding to operate effectively for the next six months to one year while it awaited disbursement from the National Health Insurance. Ms. Quarcoo noted that the support would help ensure constant water supply and fuel supply for the hospital’s standby generator. “

The donation event was witnessed by, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tolon Constituency and member of ADB Board.
