AngloGold Ashanti Ghana (AGAG) Club Fifty-50 donated GHS10,000 to Ghana’s National Cardio Centre to help pay surgery costs for five year old Master Godwin Asare, a resident of Obuasi, who suffers from a Complete Heart Block which obstructs his normal breathing. s

President of Club Fifty-50 Mr. Jacob Acquah said the group responded to the call for financial support issued by the Assembly Member and Unit Committee Members of Anyinam Community (where Master Asare’s lives with his family).

Master Godwin Asare’s condition was detected when he was just four months old. After an open heart surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in September 2019 which cost his father US$6,000 (GHc34,000), Master Asare developed Complete Heart Block, a condition that slows down the rate of his heartbeat. The price tag to correct the anomaly is €3,750, the equivalent of which is GH¢27,000.

Mr. Edward Asare, Master Asare’s dad, thanked Club Fifty 50 for coming to his child’s help. He appealed to other philanthropic individuals, organizations and businesses to come to his family’s aid to complete the full payment needed for surgery.

Club Fifty 50 was is a group of employees of AngloGold Ashanti Ghana who support sustainable programs to improve the health, educational, and socio-economic wellbeing of residents of communities in and around Obuasi, and in future extend to other parts of Ghana.
