From Our Commonwealth
Crises after crises have taught us that we are are immensely vulnerable to tragic disasters. Recent crises have also shown that Ghanaians are able to bundle together and respond with a helping hand and the urgently needed warmth and solidarity. Disasters often hit the poor and vulnerable disproportionately and they are the ones who struggle the most to recover and rebuild their lives. Crises response must be everyone’s moral obligation and civic pride.
We cannot stop natural disasters but we can arm ourselves with knowledge: so many lives wouldn’t have to be lost if there was enough disaster preparedness.
