Aker Energy made a gift to Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), which included 1,000 disposable personal protective equipment (PPEs) and 500 boxes of gloves, a package worth GHS195,000. The gift was the contribution of the company to support the government’s effort to fight COVID-19. The equipment and supplies will help the hospital manage COVID-19 cases that has already affected 152 people and killed five.

Country Director of Aker Energy Mrs. Khadijah Amoah said as a partner of Ghana, Aker Energy was thankful and proud of the accomplishment of the healthcare team. Mr. Amoah acknowledged that health professionals risked a lot by being at the frontline of the COVID-19 fight.

Medical Director of Accra Regional Hospital Dr. Emmanuel srofenyoh received the gift package and thanked the Aker Energy for their support. Dr. Srofenyoh said the hospital was badly in need of disposable gowns. He explained that these have to be discarded after they are worn and so they remain a big drain on the resources of the government.

The Ministry of Health designated Accra Regional Hosptial (Ridge) as being as the centre with readiness for testing and management of COVID-19 cases in the Ghana. The hospital is already managing a number of COVID-19 cases.
