Asanteman Europe donated PPEs worth GHS150,000 to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR). The gift package included 200 boxes of N95 nose masks, 200 boxes of surgical face masks, protective gowns, 80 face shields, examination gloves, and 60 boxes of mineral water.

The United Kingdom Asanteman Hemaa Ms. Afia Adjapomaa said Asanteman Europe was happy to with the measures put in place by government to control the pandemic and that members were willing to help Ghana in its fight against the pandemic.

Ms. Adjapomaa recalled that Asanteman Europe had previously supported the COVID-19 fight with the provision of dry foods to seniors and vulnerable households in selected towns in Ghana’s Ashanti Region. The organiztion also reached out to the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Manhyia Government Hospital, all in Kumasi.

Director of Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research Prof. Abraham Annan the PPE and supplies and thanked Asanteman Europe and its members for the kind support. Prof. Anana said Noguchi Institute was Ghana’s leading biomedical research institute at the University of Ghana, which has over the years upgraded its research infrastructure and expertise in both laboratory and field-based research into communicable and non-communicable diseases.

The giving event was witnessed by Mr. Akwasi Awuah Abbio, Director in charge of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President, Okatakyie Nana Anim, Sanaahene of Ati-Amanfrom, New Tafo who is also a member of Asanteman Europe.

Asanteman Europe comprises 14 different associations from 10 countries in Europe and with a membership of over 3500.
