The Bank of Africa Ghana Ltd refurbished the Children’s Ward of Upper East Regional Hospital to enhance healthcare service delivery for children in Bolgatanga.
Prior to its refurbishment, the ward was in a deplorable state. Glass louvres were broken, window mesh was torn and worn, beds and baby cots were broken, floor had visible cracks and doors had no locks. The list is long.
Mr. Robert Nii Ahele Nunoo, Chief Marketing and Corporate Communications Officer of the Bank of Africa, said GHC100,000 project included interior and exterior painting, tiled floors, replacement of louvre blades and wire mesh and 50 new beds.
Mr. Nunoo said staff and management of the Bank settled on assisting the children’s ward of the hospital because the situation touched their hearts. He explained that the outreach was not a business device, but represented the bank honoring its social responsibility commitment.
Mr. Nunoo advised that the facility be maintained effectively to prolong its lifespan so it could serve many generations.
Dr. Winfred Ofosu, Upper East Regional Director of Health Services thanked the bank for its contribution towards improving the quality of healthcare in the hospital and the Upper East Region.
