The BMW Club Ghana donated to a special package to health professionals at the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) and Ga East Municipal Hospital to recognize their efforts and sacrifices and to boost their continued input into the fight against COVID-19 in Ghana. The gift was also made as part of activities to mark the club’s third anniversary.

President of BMW Club of Ghana Mr. Lloyd Ashley said the club was using the donation to recognize the sacrifices of frontline health as they work to save the lives of others.

“it’s on very few occasions that they [frontline healthcare workers] are acknowledged. We are often concerned about the patients. But the people administering the treatment, the people taking care of the patients, is also very essential. So we found right today to acknowledge them by giving them this little donation from the BMW Club.”

Head of Medical Affairs at the University of Ghana Medical Centre Dr. Kwame Anim Boamah received the gift package with appreciation. Dr. Boamah said this kind of donation served as a motivation for management and staff of the Centre. The Acting Director of the Ghana Infectious Disease Center Dr. Joseph Commey said the donation will “ginger up” health workers to help people in need of care.

“We have been surprised, many times donation are made towards the welfare of patients but this donation is towards our welfare and as front-liners, we feel appreciated”, Dr. Commey added.
