End-Time Prayer Line, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Ohio State in the USA, has donated bales of secondhand clothing, worth GH¢12,000, to the Jamasi School for the Deaf.
The items included comforters, pillows, toys, games and bedsheets, among others.
Pastor Kwabena Asenso Boitey, Executive Director of the NGO, said the gesture was part of their social responsibility, as a Christian group, to reach out to the less-privileged and destitute in society.
He pleaded with the government to reduce shipping cost, to encourage those willing to help the less-privileged from abroad to do so more often, to complement efforts by the government to improve the living standards of the citizenry,Pastor Asenso Boitey presenting the items to Headmistress Mrs. Aidoo especially those in need.
Mrs. Vida Aidoo, Headmistress of the school, expressed her profound gratitude to the organisation for the kind gesture.
She also pleaded with the government, corporate bodies, and other stakeholders to come to the aid of the school, with the establishment of a vocational centre, to enable the children undertake catering and metal works after Junior High School education.
She disclosed that only a few of them are able to enter Secondary and Technical schools after JHS, and observed that the vocational center would go a long way to absorb some of the inmates.
Mrs. Aidoo pleaded with parents to take care of the children, and give them the needed support and education to prepare them for life.
