Etwienanahene of Kyebi and Okyeman State Barima Kweku Duah funded the construction of a $400.000 hospital ward for Kyebi Government Hospital as a contribution to help improve quality healthcare delivery in Okyeman State. The Christian Duodua Ward has twelve rooms, a doctor’s office and nurses’ station.

Barima Kweku Duah also donated anaesthetic equipment and a tricycle support the hospital’s operations.

The gift was part of activities to mark the sixth anniversary of the enstoolment of Barima Kweku Duah as Etwienanahene of Kyebi and Okyeman State. Speaking at the project handover event, Barima Kwaku Duah said the donation re-affirmed the rich tradition of servant leadership established by Nana Sir Ofori Atta I.

He explained that it was the responsibility of citizens of Kyebi to contribute their quota towards the development of Okyeman state. He appealed to all citizens of Okyeman at home and abroad to contribute to the vision of Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin to transform Kyebi into a modern functioning traditional capital.

Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua, Queen mother of the Okyeman State, commended Barima Kwaku Duah for his selfless spirit. Nana Dokua charged management and staff of the Hospital to ensure proper maintenance of the facility.

Dr. Charles Nyarko, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, expressed appreciation to the Etwienanahene. Dr. Nyarku observed that the new ward was provided at a time when the hospital was struggling with infrastructural deficit and promised to ensure that the facility will be put to very good use.
