Personnel of Ghana National Fire Service Course 33 Group donated a water storage tank and accessory metal frame stand, rice, cooking oil, milk, beverages, biscuits, toiletries and undisclosed cash to Akwadum Orphanage in New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The gift was made to mark the 17th anniversary of graduation of the Course 33 Group. Officers of Course 33 Group believe in giving back to society and they hope the gift will help support the care of children at Akwadum Orphanage.

Deputy Eastern Regional Fire Commander said officers contributed from their own salaries to support the initiative and the outcome was “beautiful.” He called on other sister services to emulate the gesture by visiting other orphanages and care homes and doing something memorable that would leave a mark on the hearts of vulnerable kids. He noted that that oftern, the Fire Service is at the receiving end, but that there was more blessings in giving than in receiving, referencing the Bible and the Qur’an.
