The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) donated 50 classroom dual desks to rural Mueter D.A. Basic School near Asutsuare in the Shai-Osudoku District of Ghana’s Greater Accra Region. The support from the GAFCSC fulfilled a promise made by former Commandant of the college and the current Chief of the Naval Staff Rear Admiral Seth Amoama during one of GAFCSC’s training excercise held at the Asutuare area in 2019.

The Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College Rear Admiral Moses Beick-Baffour presented the gift package to the school to help relieve some of the challenges faced by the distressed rural school as students return to school from COVID-19-related school break. The desks were made from leftover wood provided by the Ghana Forestry Authority to GAFCSC for the construction of a garage. The Ghana Maritime Authority paid for carpentary labour for the production of the desks.

Headmistress of Mueter D.A. Basic School Mrs. Rose Braimah  received the desks, describing the gift as a huge relief for the school, which was badly in need of support. Mrs. Braimah said expectations to observe social distancing even increased the burden all the more, requiring more furniture for the school’s 22 junior high School final year students.

Mueter D.A. Basic School has 250 students, including 75 junior highs and serves Ningokope, Teikwame, Fevlokope, Muerter (Old-Waterworks) and Fulani communities.
