GCB Bank constructed a six-unit school building for children in Sawuah Community near Donkorkrom in Afram Plains. The new school replaces an old dilapidated school building, which collapsed in 2015.
The GHC400,000-facility has a staff room, a water reservoir and a security wall. All classrooms were appropriately furnished with needed infrastructure to facilitate teaching and learning.
Mr. Anselm Sowah, Managing Director (MD) of GCB Bank said the school was built in response to a news article published in the Daily Graphic newspaper in 2015, which appealed for assistance to renovate a collapsed school building at Sawuah.
Mr. Sowah explaned that the project fulfilled GCB Bank’s commitment to education and community development in the bank’s areas of operation. He noted that the project contributed to attainment of SDG Goal 4 , which addresses the provision of quality education for all.
The school building project was fully funded by GCB Bank under auspices of its Donkorkrom branch. Additional support was provided by the Donkorkrom District Assembly and the Catholic Priest in the area.
