The Ghana Insurance Brokers Association (GIBA), the umbrella body of all licensed broking firms in the country, donated hospital beds, stretchers, wheelchairs and ceiling fans to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital. GIBA also donated food supplies including rice, sugar, cooking oil, milk, biscuits and bread other essentials like clothing, footwears and beddings. The donation was valued at GH¢10,000.

The gift was part of the GIBA’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and made on the occasion of the association’s 30th anniversary.

GIBA President Lena Adu-Kofie said the donation was meant to reduce some of the challenges the hospital faced. She explained the role of insurance in the economy and the contributions of insurance to Ghanaians.

Director of Nursing Services of the hospital Mr. Emmanuel Pappoe said donation had come in timely and pledged that they will be applied diligently to help patients at the hospital.
