GNPC Foundation distributed Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, hand soap, tissue papers, trash bins, hand gloves and face masks to market women in major markets of Takoradi, Agona Nkwanta, Anyinase, Tarkwa, Bogoso, Sekondi, Wassa Akropong, Assakae, Kojokrom and Asankragwaa. The foundation also provided similar supplies to offices of the Western Regional House of Chiefs

Dr. Dominic Eduah, Executive Director of GNPC Foundation, said the donation was part of the foundation’s core mandate to promote health and safety through health campaigns and interventions. Dr. Eduah said the vision of the foundation was to impact 10 million lives in the next five years.

In comments made at the presentation, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Mrs. Babara Oteng Gyasi advised market centre traders to practice good hygiene and social distancing to help stem the spread of the new Coronavirus disease. Metropolitan Chief Executive of Sekondi-Takoradi Mr, K.K Sam also appealed to traders to not allow their children to accompany them to market centres, but to let their children remain at home to study instead.

Witnesses at the giving event included Western Regional Minister Mr. Kwabena Darko-Mensah, Deputy Regional Minister Ms. Gifty Kusi, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area Nana Kobina Nketia V and Municipal Chief Executive of Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) Mr. Kojo Acquah.
