The Ghanaian Women’s Association of Georgia (GWAG), a US Charity, donated a 40ft container load of maternity ward equipment and supplies worth $78,000 to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Volta River Authority Hospital, Danfah Health Centre, Brenu Ampenyi Health Centre, Nkaseim Health Centre, 37 Military Hospital Children’s Unit and University of Cape Coast Hospital. The donated equipment and supplies will support the improvement of maternal and child health outcomes in the beneficiary hospitals and health centres.

The donation from GWAG-USA was supported by the kind collaboration of the Rebecca Foundation and Rotary Club Accra Airport. Sheila Sakyi, Strategist at the Rebecca Foundation and Mr. Ernest Asamoah, Warehouse Manager of Rotary Club of Airport and Airport City in Accra, worked with GWAG special coordinators Nayram Kyei-Mensah and Pearl Mawuena Aglago to coordinate and provide logistical support to ensure smooth distribution of the equipment and supplies.

At the giving event, Madam Mawuena Agaglo noted that GWAG’s vision was to give back to the motherland through supporting Ghana’s healthcare system to reduce preventable maternal deaths and support expectant mothers in accessing basic quality healthcare.

Mrs. Nayram Kyei-Mensah expressed appreciation to the donors who continue to support the charitable activities of GWAG. Mrs. Kyei-Mensah pointed out that it through the generosity of GWAG’s supporters that the Association was able to positively impact the lives of Ghanaians.

Past President of Rotary Club Accra Airport Ms. Afua Ababio received the package of equipment and supplies on behalf of the Children’s Unit of 37 Military Hospital and thanked GWAG for the collaboration, noting that it helped the Club to fulfill its mission of promoting quality healthcare, especially in underserved communities in Ghana.
