Huawei Technologies Ghana has donated ICT lab equipment to the Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC) Tesano main Campus in Accra. The gift equipment, worth GHS100,000 ($20,000) will enhance the teaching of ICT and engineering to help boost the ICT talent ecosystem development in Ghana. The donated facilities included five switches, three Cloud Engine S5737-S24P4X, two S5731_S24P4X and four routers (R6140_9G_ACC13_Britian).
Deputy Managing Director of Huawei Technologies Ghana Mr. Kweku Quansah explained that by equipping the ICT lab, Huawei hoped to support GTUC in providing hands-on training to professionals and students in the university’s Network and Telecom Engineering programs.
The gift from Huawei is part of several CSR initiatives in ICT domain that support universities and tertiary institutions with needed support to help develop and advance the knowledge of local ICT talent and provide hands-on training that prepares students for the job market. Over the past three years, Huawei has supported some 12 universities in the country with the Ghana Telecom University College being the first to benefit from the initiative in 2020.
