The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana Birender Singh Yadav led members of the Society of Friends of India and community group to give thousands of dollars worth of medicines to the 37 military hospital. The medicines were provided by Indian companies doing business in Ghana.

The occassion was used to mark the 148th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, which is also observed as the International Day of Non-violence world wide.

Acting Commanding Officer of the 37 Military Hospital Col. Raymond Ewusi and his team received the gift on behalf of the hospital and thanked the Indian mission.

The donation followed a Peace Walk from the residence of the Indian High Commission through the Switchback Road and the Liberation Road in Accra and then back to the residence.

High Commissioner Yadav said the celebration of the day provided a holistic view of sustainable development, fitness and peaceful life to reinforce the relevance of the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, many years after his death.
