Joshob Construction Ltd donated $100,000 to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund to support efforts of government in stemming the spread of the pandemic in Ghana and supporting the socially vulnerable who are worst impacted by the pandemic and its associated control measures.
CEO of James Osei Brown remarked that Joshop Construction felt obligated to contribute meaningfully to government-led efforts to fight the global pandemic and stem its further spread in Ghana. Mr. Brown noted that during such difficult times, it was important for local businesses like Joshob Construction to to focus on people’s health and people’s lives, and not on profits. He explained that businesses in the road construction industry like Joshob were heavily indebted to their creditors even as road contractors were also owed lots of money. However, Mr. Brown expressed the Joshob Construction’s view that COVID-19 was an emergency – urgent enough to necessitate a business borrowing to support the effort.
Mr. Brown referenced President Akufo-Addo’s famous quote in his own words that “you can put everything on hold, but you cannot put life on hold,” which is why Joshob Construction believed it was important to save lives now and think about profit tomorrow. Mr. Brown appealed to peer road contractors to follow his example regardless of their own financial challenges and support government in the fight against COVID-19.
Chief of Staff Mrs. Frema Osei Opare received the cheque and thanked Joshob Construction for the generous support. Mrs. Opare noted that frontline health workers, in particular, needed the appropriate logistics and protective gear to prevent infection even as workers went about their working fighting the disease.
