Kosmos Energy, presented a cheque for GH¢5,000 ($2,300) to sponsor the best Journalist for Anti-Corruption category of the 2013 GJA awards to be held under the theme “Promoting Healthy Partisanship and Fruitful Partnership in Governance: The Role of the Media.”

The Deputy Director of Finance and Administration of Kosmos Energy, Mr Kofi Opoku, said the decision to sponsor the Anti-corruption and Fraud category was to encourage journalists to campaign against corruption. Mr Kofi Opoku noted that the media needed to hold organisations and government accountable for their actions, hence the need to support and encourage them. Mr. Opoku pointed out that Kosmos subscribes to fighting corruption and would continue to support journalists to bring out issues on corruption.

Mr Dave Agbenu, GJA General Secretary, commended the Kosmos and other corporate institutions for their support and urged them to continue assisting the media to enhance their work. He called on corporate bodies to help invest in the Ghanaian media to enable them to live up to expectation and help in the development of the country.
