The Lebanese Community in Ghana awarded scholarships to 19 outstanding students of Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ). Awardees included 15 undergraduate students and five graduate students.

The community had been sponsoring the scholarship scheme over the past six years.

Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana,  Mr. Maher Kheir, accompanied by  Mr. Ashlar Naaman (Managing Director of Akramang Processing Industries). congratulated beneficiaries and urged them to continue with the hard work.

Ambassador Kheir acknowledged that under his predecessor, the Lebanese community planted a seed six years ago to reward hard working of students and the scholarship program had been very successful. He affirmed his willingness to continue the legacy of his predecessor and drive the vision of the Lebanese community.

He noted that the Lebanese Community was extremely proud of the scholar’s achievements, some of whom had gone on to become reporters, lawyers, banking executives, PR professionals among others.

Professor Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo, rector of GIJ, commended the Lebanese community and urged the students to put in more effort to justify the award.

Juliana Odamea Asare, a scholarship beneficiary, thanked the Lebanese Community on behalf of her colleagues.
