Malta Guinness provided special support to 20 local startups and small businesses in Ghana to enhance their social media visibility. Malta Guinness signed up prominent social brand influencers in Ghana to identify and spotlight promising local small businesses for free using the influencers’ social media assets. Notable influencers that participated in the ‘Spread Good’ campaign included Ms. Deloris Frimpong-Manso (Delay), Ms. Regina Van-Helvert, Mr. Worlasi Langani, Mr. Andrews Commey Otoo (Mr. Drew) and other celebrities.
Each influencer was charged with selecting two startups or small businesses and campaigning for them by using their social media handles on Instagram to spotlight them for one week. beneficiary businesses were drawn from the beauty, personal care, art, fashion, food and beverages, retail, and technology industries. The Spread Good campaign is estimated to have reached over a million fans on social media, giving the small, mostly online businesses up to 30% more visibility. Founder of Ryndel Perfumer Ghana Ms. Theresa Donkor welcomed the initiative and described it as a great experience to have notables like Ms. Delores “Delay” Frimpong-Manso spotlight her business. Ms. Donkor called on more corporate brands to support small businesses.
This Spread Good campaign is part of Malta Guinness’ ongoing Enjoy a World of Good campaign, which seeks to create a world where Ghanaians support and #Rekognize each other’s hustles.
