Van Moorhouse Foundation gave essential supplies worth GH¢10,000 to the Renal and Oncology Units of the Child Health Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.The items included mineral water, clothes, toiletries, toys, books, beds, diapers and food supplies.
The foundation also provided some money to assist in payment of hospital bills and prescription drugs for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Country Representative of Van Moorhouse Foundation Abrefa Busia said the outreach was based on the foundation’s assessment that the beneficiary units tended to attract the least charitable giving even though they were sensitive and vital.
Mr. Busia presented the gift to on behalf of the foundation. Senior Nursing Officer Josephine Owusu-Takyi recieved the gift on behalf of the Child Health Department.
Mrs. Owusu-Takyi thanked the foundation for remembering the children and coming to support their treatment and recovery.
She called for more support from benevolent organizations, businesses and individuals, noting that Child Health Department was in dire need of clothing, medication and medical consumables such as syringes, needles including other medical equipment that are needed to address children’s health needs.
Mr. Busia thanked Vanessa Moorhouse and family (founders), Mr. Kweku Sosoo and Mr. & Mrs Akrofi (patrons) for their support for the mission of the foundation.
