The 2018/2019 cohort of the National Service Personnel Association of Ghana (NASPA) donated 100 pieces of classroom desks to schools in need in the Mamprugu Moagduri District of North East Region. Members of NASPA described the gift as a gesture in support of achieving SDG 4 – quality education.
The gift reflects the commitment of NASPA personnel to go beyond their mandatory one-year national service to provide much needed logistics to enhance teaching and learning activities in resource-deprived rural areas. President of NASPA 2018/19 Mr. Twumasi Stephen said, NASPA personnel have to honor this commitment as a standard practice to climax their completion and exit from Ghana’s one-year National Service Scheme.
Mr. Stephen paid tribute to exemplary past gestures of previous NASPA cohorts and their leaderships that impacted the lives of people and communities in need.
Deputy District Education Director of Mamprugu Moagduri Mr. Mummuni Mbonwura Francis received the classroom desks furniture on behalf of the schools and expressed profound gratitude to NASPA executives. Mr. Francis said the remote location of the district predisposes it to deprivation of key social amenities, leaving their fate to the kindness to benevolent individuals and groups.
