In observation of International Chefs Day, Nestlé for Healthier Kids (N4HK) assembled professional chefs, teachers, and children of Asafo Agona-East D.A. Basic School in the Central Region to promote healthier lifestyle through healthy food preparation.

The chefs guided school children to prepare local, familiar and healthy foods and children were taught basic healthy eating habits.

Managing Director of Nestlé Ghana, Ms. Philomena Tan said we could only build a better future for our children today if we took their nutrition and wellbeing seriously.

Ms. Tan noted that through Nestlés Healthier Kids Program and its fortification agenda, the company are contributing to fulfilling its 2030 global ambition to help 50 million children lead healthier lives.

District Director of Education for Agona-East District, Mrs. Vida Amoah Mintah said programs such as Nestlé for Healthier Kids was helpful for the mental development of school children. She commended the use of local and familiar foods in the outreach project and noted that it would make it easier for the children to prepare healthy meals and to share with their parents what they had learnt about good nutrition.

Mrs. Mintah thanked Nestlé Ghana for bringing such a health-oriented initiative to the Asafo Agona East District school children.

N4HK is implemented in partnership with the University of Ghana’s Department of Nutrition and Food Science and the Ghana Education Service.
