The 2001 year group of Old Tamascans Association provided a mechanized borehole and water storage facility to Tamale Senior High School. Built at a cost GHC21,521, the facility will supply water to three water storage tanks, which would serve three student houses and six staff residences. There are also plans to extend the water supply to the school kitchen.

Chairman of Old Tamascans 2001 Year Group Mr. Adama Muntala said the gift was meant to show the alumni’s appreciation for what they achieved through their alma mater.

Mr. Muntala explained that 18 years after completing school, the old students came together to constitute the group and find ways it could contribute to the success of the school. Mr. Muntala said the past students recalled that access to water used to be a major problem for the during their time at Tamasco. He said they used to go as far as Tamale Technical University (then T-Poly) and UDS Central Administration to fetch water.

He encouraged beneficiaries of the water project to take good care of the facility and ensure a good maintenance culture in order to prevent premature breakdown of the facility.

Headmaster of Tamale Senior High School Mr. Wilberforce Salifu Issah commended the 2001 Year Group for the support and assured them of good maintenance. Mr. Issah noted that the project could not have come at a better time when the student was growing rapidly.
