The Okuapehene Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III marked his 35th birthday with the donation of water filter/dispenser, bottled water, beverages, and hygiene and health supplies to three schools in Akuapim: Akropong School for the Blind, Presbyterian KG, Primary and Junior High School, and Mampong Demonstration School for the Deaf. The donated supplies will help protect staff and students in beneficiary schools from the risk of spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III commended the school authorities and students for their strict compliance with health advisories which had led to the schools recording zero cases of COVID-19. Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III urged schools to not let their guards down. Now in the second year of his reign, the Okuapehene made it his priority to reach out and celebrate his birthday with the socially vulnerable in the Akuapim State. He explained that the challenges of the times must not detract citizens from their communal spirit and the need to be there for one another.
Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo founded the Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo foundation (OKWAF), a private foundation with the goal of supporting the people of the Eastern Region particularly Okuapeman with custom-made solutions to supplement the existing healthcare plan and educational plan, help generate sustainable employment opportunities through social enterprise projects.
The Akropong School for the Blind and the Mapong Demonstration School for the Deaf are major priorities in the OKWAF’s agenda. The foundation also plans to support 100,000 students from selected schools and 20,000 seniors in rural areas across Okuapeman and Ghana’s Eastern Region.
