First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo commissioned a newborn unit for the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra. The facility was financed by the Rebecca Foundation, adding to a number of other interventions implemented in the critical area of mother and child healthcare, which the First Lady is passionate about.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo, on behalf of the Rebecca Foundation gave the new unit five complete delivery systems, five advanced wound dressing materials, five pressure bed sheets, 10 gowns and 20 packs of diapers.

For the ten decades of the hospital’s existence, it has operated without a newborn unit and complementary infrastructure and equipment.

Mrs Akufo-Addo noted the “ups and downs” of the hospital over ted the 92 years of its existence. She recognized the many individuals who sacrificed and went to great lengths to  “take care of our precious children.” She congratulated the hospital board led by Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, management and staff of the facility for their professionalism.

Rev. Fr. Cambell described the new unit was a great contribution towards the delivery of quality healthcare of newborns. He thanked the Rebecca Foundation for their assistance.
