The Rebecca Foundation commissioned a library within the Lapas cluster of schools in Dambai in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region. The library facility is part of an initiative of the First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, working through the Rebecca Foundation, to provide communities with modern library facilities that are stocked with various collections of books and that provide computers and internet access to support educational research of students and teachers.

At the commissioning, Press Aide at the Office of the First Lady Mr. Richard Darko noted that Mrs. Akufo-Addo was passionate about empowering young people through education to ensure that they are better placed to fully harness opportunities in a competitive global environment. To this end, the Foundation built libraries across Ghana to provide students and young people with a conducive environment to acquire knowledge.

The Oti Regional Minister Mr. Joseph Makubu was confident that the library facility would be of immense benefit to students and give them the opportunity to improve on their educational outcomes. The Oti Regional Director for Education Madam Georgina Mensah said the library had been commissioned at a time that many students had lots of time on their hands for extracurricular activities. Madam Mensah urged students in the community to make use of the facility to enrich their knowledge.
