The Rotary Club of Tarkwa donated textbooks, exercises books, geometrical instruments, pens, pencils and female hygiene supplies to students of Awudua Nkwanta Anglican Basic School in Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality. The donation was part of the club’s program of assistance to schools for September 2021.
President of Rotary Club of Tarkwa Mr. Daniel Buddy Sagoe said providing humanitarian service to communities in need is one of the core values of Rotary International. Mr. Sagoe explained that it was within this spirit that the club reached out to Awudua Nkwanta Anglican Basic School to conduct a needs assessment and identify existing challenges of the school that the club could help address. The lack of school supplies was identified as a major problem, and club members mobilized funds through personal contributions and contributions from family and friends to support the school, Mr. Sagoe added.
The Rotary Club of Tarkwa reiterated its commitment to support deprived communities in Tarkwa and its surrounding communities. “I entreat individuals and corporate organizations to do same to help improve upon the lives of the less privileged in society,” Mr. Sagoe appealed. He advised the school children to take their studies seriously and make the best use of the school supplies provided.
Mr. Francis Baidoo, Headmaster of Awudua Nkwanta Anglican Basic School, received the donated supplies and thanked Rotary Club of Tarkwa for its generosity. Mr. Baidoo noted that the supplies provided would help improve the quality of teaching and learning. He appealed for more support from individuals, businesses and NGOs.
