The Rotary Clubs of Accra, Accra-Airport, Accra-Airport City, Accra-Sunrise and Cape Coast-Central refurbished the infirmary at Ankaful Prison Annex and gave the prison a package of pharmaceutical products, medical equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs). The joint effort was intended to support the prison in providing effective health services to inmates.

At the commissioning event at Ankaful, Rotarian Rosalind A. Kodoadzi noted that the outreach was made in response to an appeal by officers of the Ghana Prisons Service to help refurbish the infirmary. Mrs. Kodoadzi said the Rotary Clubs hoped that equipping the prison infirmary with modern equipment would lead to improved wellbeing of prison inmates.

“It is our hope that when our brothers come in, they will be looked after so that at the end of the day their well-being is assured and also if the officers who are looking after them need medical assistance, they will also receive the needed assistance.”

Rotarian Kodoadzi implored the prison authorities to ensure that the resources donated were applied and used diligently to serve the needs of inmates. She also urged the authorities to Rotarian Kudoadzi also urged the authorities to ensure a good maintenance culture to prolong the lifespan of the resources provided.

Assistant Director of Prison, Mr. Wilson Sallah, the deputy commander of the Anakaful Prison Annex, thanked the Rotary Clubs for the support. Mr. Sallah said the support provided by the clubs provided an opportunity to better the lives of prison inmates.
