SIC Insurance donated 10 HP desktop computers worth GHS35,000 to Takoradi Technical University (TTU) to support the university’s effort in development a right workforce for industry. Managing Director of SIC Insurance Dr. Stephen Oduro said the donation fulfilled an earlier pledge by SIC Insurance to support the university and affirmed the company’s continued commitment to assist the university.

“SIC and this institution have been in business since 2008…I want to reiterate that in SIC we have one motto; and this is ‘our promise is sacred’, and therefore the moment we give our word, we stick by it, whether through difficult times or not…We will make sure that we continue to help the institution because you never know, maybe tomorrow, there’ll be a student frown here that will become the next Managing Director.”

The Registrar of Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory thanked SIC Insurance and noted that such support was important for supporting the producing quality workforce by universities for both industry and overall development of society. Dr. Abnory said it was important for businesses to pay particular attention to the kind of products that are graduated by training institutions. “If we produce quality students for you, even the less money you spend in training them will yield more,” he said.

Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun thanked SIC Insurance and gave the company a token that included TTU’s 5-year strategic plan. Rev. Prof. Eshun noted that the university needed more computers, which is why the generous donation from SIC Insurance was very important. He observed that there were further opportunities for collaboration between the company and the university and called for more support.
