The 1978/80 Year Group of St Louis Past Students Association (SLOPSA) commissioned a newly built security gate for St. Louis Senior High School in Kumasi. The replaces the original gate that had been in place since the school was built. The school gate plays an important role as the entry and exit point into the school campus. It will therefore enhance safety and security for students, staff and the campus community.

Leader of the SLOPSA 1978/80 Group Dr Akua Kese Ofori-Asumadu said the project was undertaken to commemorate the alumni Year Group’s 40th anniversary in 2018. Dr. Asumadu reported that the consensus among the alumni group was to provide a new gate infrastructure that befitted St Louis Senior High as one of Ghana leading second-cycle institutions, which continues to uphold high standards of academic excellence and discipline.

The project was overseen by a 15-member working group, headed by a three-member coordinating team that included Dr. Ofori-Asumadu (Project Coordinator), Dr. Betty Amenu Solomon Ayeh (Technical Coordinator) and Ms. Muriel Antwi (Treasurer). The project was completed in two years with funds raised from contributions of members of SLOPSA 1978/80.

The Headmistress of St. Louis Senior High Schoo Ms. Ama Keyerewaa Benefo witnessed the commissioning and expressed gratitude to the SLOPSA 1978/80 Group for giving back to its alma mater. She called on other year groups to come on board as well to help build the school.
