Tema Lube Oil Ltd gave a new ambulance worth GH¢200 000 to the Tema General Hospital.

Mr. Kow Quansah, board chairman of Tema Lube Oil said the donation was part of the company’s contribution to development of the health sector. Mr. Quansah noted that the lack of an ambulance service had hampered effective healthcare delivery biggest health facility in the metropolis, which is also the only referral facility in the service area.

Meanwhile, because of the hospital’s proximity to a major national highway, which is prone to vehicular accidents, the Tema General Hospital plays an important role in providing initial emergency treatment prior to referrals to 37 Military and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospitals.

Mr. Quansah urged management of the hospital to take good care of the ambulance and put in place an effective maintenance schedule for the vehicle.

The Managing Director of Tema Lube Oil, Amos Donkoh, called on other corporate institutions to emulate the company’s example of in improving healthcare delivery in the country.

Medical Director of Tema General Hospital Dr Kwabena O. Adusei received keys to the ambulance and thanked the management of the Tema Lube Oil.
