CEO of Ultimo Gardens and Geodrill Ghana Ltd Mr. Dave Harper and boxing legend Mr. Azumah Nelson donated five return air tickets Ghana’s amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers, to support the team’s Africa Olympic qualifying campaign in Dakar.

The gift was made in response to an appeal for assistance made by the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF). Mr. Harper and his friend Mr. Nelson hoped other businesses to support the effort. GBF has limited resources and is sponsoring 10 athletes only because of the lack of funds.

Mr. Harper said boxing is a sports he adores the most and that providing support for boxing was the surest way to ensure its growth. He explained that boxing is at heart of the team at Ultimo Gardens and Geodrill and that both companies believe that giving back to society.

Mr. Azumah Nelson recalled his missed opportunity to make it to the Moscow Olympic Games in 1980 because of Ghana’s boycott. He challenged the team of boxers to garner the most qualification slots in the Dakar qualifiers.

President of Ghana Boxing Federation, Mr. George Lamptey expressed gratitude to the staff and management of Ultimo Gardens, Geodrill and Azumah Nelson for the gesture and promised the best from the team at the qualifiers.
