The United States Embassy in Ghana gave GH₵50,000 to Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) to support the activities marking GJA’s 70th anniversary and the association’s Annual Awards for 2019.

Press Attaché at the US Embassy in Accra Ms. Naomi Mattos said the US Government was committed to ensuring the thriving of democracy in Ghana. Ms. Mattos also noted that the US Embassy advocates for the welfare of journalists. She pointed out that the Embassy had been long time partners with the GJA and the Embassy valued that partnership. she also said her team will continue to partner the GJA to organise different workshops on ethics of journalism to election reporting.

Mr. Roland Affail-Monney, President of the Ghana Journalists Association, received the gift on behalf of GJA and expressed grattitude for the US Embassy’s continued support to GJA. Mr. Affail-Monney observed that the US Embassy had been on the the Association’s major sponsors over the years besides the Embassy’s training and capacity building workshops provided across Ghana.
