The Human Resource Department of Vodafone Ghana and the Vodafone Ghana Foundation reached out to the Children’s Block of Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) Hospital with a package of assistance to support the ongoing battle against COVID-19. The support package included surgical nose masks, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, rubbing alcohol, and paper towels and other essentials.

The donated equipment and supplies were purchased with funds mobilized through contributions from Vodafone Ghana Directors, senior staff and junior staff, which complemented resources made available by the Vodafone Ghana Foundation.

At the giving event held at LEKMA Hospital, Human Resource Director at Vodafone Ghana Hannah Ashiokai Akrong said the support the hospital was part of Vodafone Ghana’s broader commitment to fighting COVID-19 in Ghana:

“COVID-19 infections in Ghana are skyrocketing and at this current rate our healthcare institutions will need more PPE to enable them work efficiently while protecting themselves, and their patients adequately… We believe that the only way we can defeat this disease is by coming together and mobilizing resources to support our front-liners while resolving with one accord to adhere to the needful protocols.

Head of Vodafone Ghana Foundation Rev. Amaris Nana Adjei Perbi said the Vodafone Ghana Foundation continued to strengthen its partnership with various health organizations through a range of innovative and relevant initiatives. Rev. Perbi pointed to initiatives such as ‘Homecoming’ and ‘Birthday Stars’ through which Vodafone Ghana helped to get some 500 insolvent patients from out of hospital in 2020. Rev. Perbi also recalled he foundation’s Healthfest Initiative which culminated in several medical outreach programs across Ghana, impacting the lives of thousands who needed medical attention.

Dr. Mawuse Akorli, Head of the Paediatrics Department and Madam Rejoice Arthur, Administration Manager at LEKMA Hospital, received the gift package from Vodafone Ghana and expressed the hospital team’s appreciation for the support for the foundations commitment to support the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
