Yara Ghana Ltd donated GHS200,000 to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund in support of Ghana’s efforts to fight COVID-19 pandemic. Presenting the cheque for the donated funds, West Africa Regional Director for Yara International Mr. Danquah Addo-Yobo remarked that Yara Ghana had been a partner in Ghana’s development for years, especially in the agricultural space. Mr. Addo-Yobo said Yara Ghana’s gift to the Trust Fund is part of this longstanding partnership and support. Mr. Addo-Yobo explained that Yara Ghana had business continuity measures in place so farmers are able to access quality fertilizers whenever and wherever needed to ensure continuity in food production to boost Ghana’s food security in the duration of the pandemic.
Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the COVID-19 Trust Fund and former Chief Justice of Ghana Justice Sophia Akuffo received the cheque and thanked Yara Ghana for its generosity and good corporate citizenship. Justice Akuffo commended Yara Ghana for its invaluable role in Ghana’s agricultural value chain. Justice Akuffo said beneficiaries of the fund would be frontliners and volunteers leading the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the socially vulnerable and individuals most affected by the pandemic.
Witnesses at the giving event included West Africa Regional Chief Finance Officer for Yara International Mr. Kudjoe Agbenyega, Marketing Officer of Yara Ghana Mr. Kwame Okyere and Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, a member of the board of trustees of the Covid-19 National Trust Fund.
