Zenith Bank Ghana donated GH¢1 million to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund established by the Government of Ghana to complement its fight against the pandemic and assist people in need and the socially vulnerable. This individual gift from Zenith Bank Ghana follows an earlier contribution of GH¢10 million made to the fund through the Ghana Association of Bankers (GAB).

Board Chair of Zenith Bank Ghana Mrs. Freda Duplan remarked that Covid-19 shed light on the need for collaboration among government, corporate entities, the private sector and individuals for the greater good of Ghana. Mrs. Duplan explained that the need for solidarity had never been more crucial to overcoming an unprecedented test of our lifetime. She noted that additional gift from Zenith reflected the Bank’s mission to invest in its environment.

Managing Director of Zenith Bank Mr. Akindele Ogunranti added that the unprecedented times demanded the collective contribution from every segment of society in support of the government’s efforts to mitigate the impact of the pandemic. Mr. Oguranti expressed Zenith Bank Ghana’s grattitude for President Akufo-Addo’s timely intervention and the measures put in place to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus in Ghana.

The donation was made on April 14, 2020. Witnesses at the press announcement and presentation event included Board Chair of Zenith Bank Ghana Mrs. Freda Duplan, Board member Mr. Anthony Oteng-Gyasi, Managing Director/CEO of Zenith Bank, Akindele Ogunranti and Board Secretary Mr. Daniel Agamah.
