AISTIPHI pioneered its first program for Africa in Ghana. Ghana had all the right conditions of a relatively stable democracy and longstanding culture of giving and community service. The Ghana program comprises a set of institutional incentives and services that are delivered through Philanthropy Space™ Ghana. The Ghana program doubles as AISTIPHI’s field lab and model. AISTIPHI is learning from the Ghana model and adapting it for implementation in implementation in Botswana, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria, Uganda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and other countries in sub-Saharan Africa. MAJOR PLAYERS IN AFRICA GIVING BACK TO AFRICA
The level of need across communities and institutions in Africa is immense. Often, we get to know about about these through caricatures of somebody else’s lenses. What we tend to not hear much about are the generous hearts and helping hands that step in from many places locally within Africa to help make an important difference. These diverse and vast community of helpers and actors, AISTIPHI designated ‘Our Commonwealth of Goodwill®.’
In Ghana’s Philanthropy Space, these actors include businesses, corporate foundations, NGOs, religious organizations, community-based organizations, alumni associations, clubs and societies, formations of citizens abroad, state institutions, celebrities, schools and student-led organizations, etc. Based on research, AISTIPHI documented these major players and their recent history of giving back and community service.
AISTIPHI pioneered ‘Our Commonwealth of Goodwill and Community Service‘ as signature super community to officially identify and recognize this diverse philanthropy and community service community. Under this broader umbrella community, AISTIPHI established unique official communities for businesses, nonprofit charities, religious groups, alumni and celebrities etc. and pioneered incentives and services to encourage them to give back.
While the rest of the world has been improving technology, Ghana has been improving the quality of man’s humanity to man.
